Etoy vs. Etoys: http://www.toywar.com -> check the battlefield!!!

Toy reseller Etoys forced a group of artists called "Etoy" into a legal battle over their domainname. Even though Etoy not only has received a couple of prices (among them the '96 Golden Nica for best net.art at the Ars Electronica), but has also simply been *there* much earlier, but when Etoys, venture-capital start-up business, went online 2 (!) years after Etoy, they sued the Etoy off the net.

What? does this mean? How? come? What? now?

Yeah, ya heard right. The big business has wiped the arts of the net, which lead to a numerous amount of articles in all kinds of newspapers and on various sites. Etoy stated, that they are not willing to take money and piss off, so war is the logic consequence. A symbolic war over symbolic values you can join.

This is a toywar cyber-resistance site.

If you think, that the internet is supposed to serve other purposes than e-fucking-commerce as well, then you might even think that in this case the freedom is speech is seriously endangered. If you thought, there was enough room for everybody in cyberspace, this case proved you wrong.
Since the beginning of toywar, the Etoys-Shares have gone down at the Nasdaq rapidly. If they don't want to listen, they got to feel, and it's gonna hurt. War is never friendly.
